Former Scottish Widows marketing chief joins Directgov

Mike Hoban, the former customer and brand marketing director for Scottish Widows has been appointed as director of communications and engagement for Directgov.

Hoban joins the Government’s digital home for public services and information for citizens charged with maintaining the Directgov’s brand profile, looking after its marketing and communications both outward facing to the public and within the Government.

He has also work with British Airways and Barclaycard.

Meanwhile, Guy Ker, former managing editor of Channel Four News and chief operating officer at ITN has been appointed as director of publishing for Directgov.

He will be responsible for publishing government information and services for citizens across all Directgov digital channels - web, mobile and TV - and ensuring the smooth running of publishing across Directgov. He will also be championing Directgov to all government stakeholders and maintaining the proposition for citizens.

Finally, David Matthewman has taken on the role of director of product infrastructure and technical capability where will be responsible for the overall technical strategy and its delivery for Directgov. This will include liaising with counterparts across government to achieve the most effective outcomes for citizens, Directgov and the whole of government. He was previously the IT Director for BGL group, an insurance intermediary, and led the technology delivery for internal brands including Bennetts, Budget and ComparetheMarket.com and for partners including Post Office, HSBC, Marks and Spencer and Autotrader.

The Directgov appointments are soon to be followed by a new marketing campaign that will show how people can benefit from accessing the increasing number of government services through Directgov.
