GMG Radio has agreed a deal which will see sales agency First Radio Sales take over the company’s regional airtime sponsorship and promotions activity for Rock Radio.

The agency will represent the station which broadcasts across Greater Manchester and Glasgow as well as on DAB digital radio in the north east of England and Edinburgh from 1 December while local sales will continue to be managed by the station’s in-house teams.

This deal will aim to streamline the process for media agencies and will now offer them one port of call for national and regional sales and S&P for all the Rock Radio stations.

This was previously managed by a combination of Global Radio Sales and GMG Radio Solutions.

Staurt Taylor, group commercial director and incoming chief executive of GMG Radio, commented: “The Rock Radio brand fits naturally into the First Radio Sales portfolio. The company specialises in local stations and sells the macro TV regions which works perfectly for our Manchester and Glasgow stations. We look forward to a fruitful relationship with them. This move will also allow Global Radio and GMG Radio Solutions to focus fully on national and regional sales for our two core Real/Century and Smooth Radio brands.”
