Galley North will look to attract international names to the region. Above it will be a new artist’s studio resource which will aim to nurture emerging creative talent based within Northumbria University’s School of Arts and Social Science.

Anya Bramich, director of strategy at Sumo, said: “It’s always exciting to be involved in new, cultural developments and I hope that we can help to boost the profile of this cutting edge, contemporary space. Newcastle’s cultural arena is exceptionally vibrant at the moment and a space such as this will complement that perfectly.”

Helen Baker-Alder, director of Gallery North said: “Gallery North and Graduate Studios Northumbria are two exciting initiatives for not just the University and the Division of Visual Arts, but the community as a whole. We are very much looking forward to welcoming high-profile artists to the region to showcase alongside our celebrated alumni and staff.”
