Creative director Andy Massey is set to leave Edinburgh-based digital agency Line later this year.

Massey is leaving the business, where he is a board director, for personal reasons. However, the agency has recently recruited Rufus Spiller from Good Creative who will join Steve Foulds, who is due to return from a secondment in Hong Kong at the end of the year, to head up the agency's creative output.

Speaking of the changes Ross Laurie (pictured), Line's managing director, said: "This has been driven by the need for digital agencies to accept the fact that we work differently to traditional agencies and there is a need for a dual-role encompassing Creative Lead and Creative Producer-especially given the diverse range of work that falls in our remit.

"Despite the sadness in losing Andy – one of my best friends too – we are all extremely excited about our plans and we believe these new changes will help us service our clients even better than we did before and also leave us in a strong position to diversify into the new markets that seem to constantly emerge in this exciting digital space."

Speaking of his departure, Massey said: "I've had a fantastic time at Line over the last five years or so. I've been working with some of my best mates, doing the kind of work I've always wanted to do – that I believe in. It's been immensely gratifying that others have bought in to this collective vision that Ross, Malky, Ben and I have: we haven't lost a client to another agency in all that time, and we've attracted and built a fantastic, close-knit team who all have the same passion we do.

"The awards were the icing on the cake. It's therefore been an incredibly hard decision to take to leave, but, with forthcoming family commitments it just isn't feasible. I'm consoled that Line has the talent to continue what we have worked hard to build, and that it's as strong now as it has ever been."

The agency has been continuing to add to its staff numbers in recent months as it looks to grow it’s existing online advertising and email marketing divisions.

Laurie added: "Following a strategic planning weekend, where we made some key decisions about Line’s growth over the next 24 months, we have a number of new initiatives in place to ensure we stay at the top of our game and continue to help our clients profit through digital channels.

"We have been staffing up recently and acquiring people with key skills we see the need for as the digital marketplace continues to grow, evolve and become more of a central/hub role in the overall marketing mix."
