McCann Erickson Manchester is to feature in a TV documentary airing tomorrow night following a group of teenage cancer sufferers as the agency helps them to create an awareness campaign to raise awareness of teenage cancer.

The three teenagers Jonny Cunliffe, Jen Bayley and Matt Hughes were helped by McCann’s creative director, Neil Lancaster who gave them advice in creating the campaign idea to take to organisations across Greater Manchester. These stemmed from the NHS to concert venues in the city in the hope of securing support.

McCann’s also helped the trio bring their idea to life and created a number of potential poster ideas.

Lancaster said; “This was an incredibly humbling experience working with three young people who are so incredibly positive, despite the personal experiences they have had. Their optimism and desire to spread the message about teenage cancer is truly inspiring and it has been a real pleasure to have given them some help and input. They had some outstanding ideas and did not need that much help. It was more a case of showing them how to craft an idea and how to make it work across different channels.”

Since the programme was filmed, Matt Hughes is looking to launch a proper campaign on the back of support by NHS North West and the MEN Area.

Fronted by Gemma Atkinson, the programme will air this Friday (August 22) on Granada at 8pm.
