Glasgow-based business-to-business publisher Peebles Media Group has expanded its portfolio into the consumer sector with the acquisition of fellow Glasgow publishing group International Magazines Limited.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, includes Homes & Interiors Scotland magazine - the previous winner of both the UK and Scottish magazine of the year awards, along with The Best Scottish Weddings magazine.

Each magazine has an accompanying exhibition, with Homes & Interiors Scotland - now the only major interiors exhibition staged in this country - due to take place at the SECC on 29-31st August at the SECC, Glasgow.

International's founding partners David Riddell and Iain Barbour take an equal share of the spoils and are pleased that Peebles saw the strength of these brands in a time of decreased business confidence.

"Peebles Media Group will provide a well managed and resourced home for these market leading products. We are delighted to be selling to them and look forward to observing their continued growth," said David Riddell.

The directors will relinquish their roles but will work with Peebles during the handover period. The remaining 14 staff will transfer to the new owner and relocate to its offices in Glasgow's Park area. They bring the total number of staff employed by Peebles to 60.

Peebles Media Group was founded in 2001 following a management buy-out of Peebles Publishing Group by Yvonne Bremner, managing director and 100% shareholder. She said: "This acquisition is an excellent opportunity for us to broaden our portfolio. It allows us to reach new markets and to make our entry into the consumer sector at the highest level."
