Shearings brief Citypress for PR

Tour operator Shearings has appointed Manchester agency Citypress as PR advisor to the group, following a competitive pitch.

The Wigan-based firm, which employs 3,000 people and carries almost 900,000 holidaymakers each year, has a three-year plan to accelerate its growth by targeting revenues of £225m and profits of £9m by 2011.

Citypress has been tasked with communicating Shearings’ corporate objects and to support the company’s trade and consumer media relations.

Citypress managing director, Charles Tattersall, said: “Shearings has a well defined three year vision, which involves significant business investment and growth. Our corporate and travel sector teams will be working closely with the marketing department and senior management at Shearings to support the company during this exciting stage of its development.”

Shearings offers a range of holidays and breaks, catering mainly for the over-50s market.
