Smooth Radio is celebrating its best Rajar results since its relaunch a year ago having recorded a seven percent share in the first quarter of 2008.

The station now has a weekly reach of 212,000 listeners, an increase of 13,000 from the previous quarter.

Sister GMG station Real Radio continued to be the most listened to Scottish commercial radio station, having attracted 712,000 listeners. although GMG’s Rock Radio saw a loss of 11,000 listeners from the previous quarter.

Following its takeover earlier in the year by Bauer, Clyde One recorded a reach of 526,000 listeners, down by 8,000 from the previous quarter, while Clyde2 grew its audience by 18,000 listeners, reaching 227,000.

Elsewhere, XFM recorded a loss of 10,000 listeners from the previous quarter, but with Darren Henley soon to takeover as MD across the brand, industry insiders have predicted a change of format.
