McCann Erickson Communications House in Manchester has appointed Bite PR's Robin Wilson as its new PR director, replacing Rob Brown who left the role earlier this year.

Wilson, 39, joins from London-based agency Bite PR where he was board director, responsible for the agency’s digital services and running integrated digital campaigns. His 18 year career has seen him work on brands such as Apple, Facebook, MTV, Motorola, Tiger Beer and Yahoo.

He succeeds Brown, who left the company earlier this year to take up the vacant managing director post at rival Manchester business Staniforth.

McCann’s digital offering, McCann-i, has seen considerable growth in recent months and now employs more than 40 people, working with clients including SSL and American Airlines. Wilson's remit will span social media, online media relations, interactive campaigns and blogger relations, as well as continuing to drive the growth and development of McCann's PR department.

Managing partner for McCann, Jonathan Eaves, said: “Robin is one of the UK’s leading exponents of digital PR and the associated technologies and his appointment will put us at the forefront of this space.

“By aligning our PR offering with our broader online services we believe we can create a unique range of services for clients all under a single roof."

Wilson will work alongside the agency’s PR director (Business Development) Jim Rothnie.
