Telegraph Media Group has become the first media owner to offer a training day and creative solutions’ award for regional media agencies.

Last week eight regional media agencies, including MediaVest, Mediacom North and Feather Brooksbank, joined TMG’s creative solutions division, Telegraph Create, for what it hopes will become an annual event.

At the start of the day each agency was challenged to answer a cross-media, creative-solution brief from the perspective of Telegraph Create. The competing teams were offered tips and advice on how best to construct their responses as well as shown examples of some of Telegraph Create’s award-winning campaigns and proposals. Throughout the day various challenging scenarios were handed to the teams, including budget cuts and additional last-minute briefs, to demonstrate the realities of working for a creative solutions team. At the end of the day each team was charged with presenting their cross-media solution to Telegraph Create, with the most impressive solution winning tickets to this summer’s V Festival. The combined efforts of Universal McCann’s Manchester office (James Coyle and Joanne Wright) and McCann Erickson Birmingham (Emma Norris) devised the winning solution. A ‘Highly Commended’ prize was awarded to PHD North. (Leigh Herbert, Dan Hill, Chloe Brotherdige and Hannah Slack). Sarah Newton, Telegraph Create Director, said: “The feedback we have received from all the agencies was resoundingly positive and the final presentations were well constructed and presented and, above all, workable.”
