Xfm marketing director Stuart Duncan is set to join Edinburgh-based agency Multiply, as his former colleages are informed that the Scottish station will no longer be sold.

Duncan will take on the role of account director at the marketing and creative agency.

Speaking of the appointment managing director Mark Fowlestone said: “It’s an absolute result. We’re really excited that Stuart is coming to join us and this brings additional strength to our senior level of management. Not only does he bring with him a wealth of experience in marketing comms, which our clients expect, but also expertise in media, sponsorship and PR which I have no doubt will offer broader benefits to Multiply. He joins as an account director and if all else fails he’s a bloody good DJ, so the Xmas parties won’t go wanting!”

Meanwhile, the sale of the Xfm Scotland and Xfm Manchester is no longer on the cards as GCap has halted the sale of both stations. It is thought that Xfm South Wales will still be offloaded.

The stations were recently given a deadline of 31 April to find a buyer, but it would now appear that GCap has had a change of heart following its sale to Global Radio.

A GCap spokesperson said: "It is a decision the GCap board has come to in light of the fact we are to become part of a bigger company [Global Radio], and these stations will fit well within a larger portfolio."
