The in-house digital team at Salford City Council has created the new Visit Salford site to boost visits to the city and develop its tourism economy.

The colourways on the site complement Salford City Council’s magenta brand but the website will also get a fresh new look every season, with specially tailored animations on the home page, moving from this winter’s falling snowflakes to a fluttering butterfly and flowers to portray spring.

The new site also encourages lots of interaction with its visitors, who have the chance to enter competitions, sign up for e-news and give feedback on the website.

Lindsey Hebden, Salford City Council’s tourism marketing manager, says, “People have misconceptions about what Salford has to offer as a tourism destination, so we thought it was important to have a website that gave a varied flavour of what people can see and do.

“The structure of the site is very simple, so it is extremely easy for people to find out in a short space of time where they might want to go in Salford for a particular day out. It will also regularly showcase different highlight places or events for people to choose from on the homepage.”

The website was project managed by Salford City Council’s Tourism Marketing Team, which worked with its in-house web department on the design and build of the site and is currently working in collaboration with Marketing Manchester to link with the visitmanchester site and EnglandNet.
