Graham Jones, former managing director of Civic has launched a new content marketing agency alongside two former Civic colleagues.

Jones will be joined by Stewart Kirkpatrick, formerly online communications director at Civic and before that editor of Scotsman.com, and Tony Purcell, ex-strategy and business development director at Civic.

The new company, billed by the trio as Scotland’s first content marketing agency, is to be called w00tonomy.

Speaking of the new venture, Jones said: “The first phase of the internet was really about technology, the second was about the visual element. But for now and for the future it is all about content, particularly with the launch of new mobile devices like the iphone.

“Our experience has taught us that to reach target audiences, clients need to build a relationship based on interesting and relevant content – not ads. This content must be developed over time in response to intelligence about how the audience behaves.”

The new agency’s name comes from the internet slang w00t – used to express joy, particularly that felt during success or victory.

Jones was, until late last year, MD of Civic from its inception in August 2001, alongside Purcell, who had previously founded Communicata.
