A Staniforth spokesperson said Brown still had things to sort out with his current employers. As such, she was unable to say whether it would be a few weeks or a few months until Brown is able to make the move to the Didbsury-based consultancy.

Brown will replace Emma Chadwick in the position, who left in November along with financial director Paul Chorlton. The pair have confirmed plans to launch their own consultancy, although details have not yet been announced.

For Brown, the move represents a return to his roots after starting his career at the then Staniforth-Williams agency. Staniforth is now part of the TBWA\\ stable.

Brown set-up and managed the rapid growth of the McCann PR division, working with national clients including MFI and Peugeot.

He said: “I’m joining an impressive team. I think the industry is poised to see real development at the reinvigorated TBWA\\ in Manchester.”

Tim Lindsay, TBWA\\’s UK group chief executive, added: “I firmly believe that he is right person to guide the company into its next phase of growth.

Staniforth clients include Marks & Spencer, Nissan and RAC.
