Arc Worldwide is set to pull out of Edinburgh and Scotland as its parent group Publicis has decided to put its UK focus entirely on London, in a ‘single development strategy’.

The agency’s Edinburgh clients are now to be serviced out of the London Arc Worldwide office.

Staff at the Edinburgh office – including Carolyn Laing, the agency’s managing director – have been offered roles in London although Laing has chosen to leave the company and will “take some time out” to consider her options before deciding on her next step.

Laing took on the role of managing director at Arc Edinburgh in December 2006 when she joined from Good Creative.

Laing returned to Glasgow to join Good having previously spent time at BD-Network in Glasgow, before moving to its London office.

Arc UK has recently witnessed the departure of its MD Mike Spicer, with Andrew Edwards, president for the European, African and Middle Eastern regions taking on the role. It is not known how much of an impact this move had on the closure of the Edinburgh office.

The decision is the latest in a line of international networked agencies to withdraw from Scotland, including DraftWorldwide and KLP Euro RSCG.
