25 Years of the Roses

Do you remember what you were doing 25 years ago? Presumably some of the creatives who have produced the work nominated in this year’s creative awards weren’t even out of short trousers. However, 25 years ago the great insitution that is The Roses Awards was founded, and, in light of this, The Drum will be formally recognising past winners at this years event. When the judging panel met last month to deliberate over the best creative work from Scotland and England, they were also asked to put their creative heads together to come up with their favourite pieces of work that scooped a gold award in previous years. The judges for this award included Chris O’Shea of HOW, creative guru Mike Cozens, freelance creative Jim Downie, Colin Marr of Marr Associates, Neil Molyneux of Commercials Unlimited, Steve Hooper of Hooper Galton, Gordon Young, publisher of The Drum and Katy Archer, editor of Adline.

The four categories that we are now asking our esteemed readers to cast their beedy eyes (and ears) over are: TV, Radio, Best Single Print and Best Campaign. Now, the science bit.

Over the next three pages The Drum showcases the nominations for three out of the four categories.

The categories are also available online at www.thedrum.com/roses - where you will also be able to listen to the radio and view the TV nominations. Simply vote for your favourite piece of work, and on the night we will award the most popular pieces of work as voted by you.

We hope that you enjoy looking back at some of the best work that has been created in UK advertising over the past 25 years. We certainly did.

The Roses Advertising Awards takes place on 5 May in Manchester. For tickets contact Jo Elliott on 0141-352 4662 or e-mail jo.elliott@carnyx.com.
