Richard Scholey, creative director at Elmwood, has left the Leeds office in order to head up their newly formed Australian operation.

Scholey has already left England for Melbourne, where he will be charged with looking after the agency’s largest account, retailer Cole Meyers, while also growing the business over the course of the next 18 months.

Commenting on the move, managing director at Elmwood, Jayne Barrett said that the move was in line with Elmwood’s growth strategy. She stated: “When we opened our Leeds and Edinburgh offices we asked someone from our main team to head up the expansion, and this is something that we were eager to do with our opening in Australia.

“Richard will be in Australia for the next 18 months, but he will be back after that. He will be responsible for ensuring that the agency grows in line with how we want it to, and he is already recruiting for two new designers.”

Barrett added that the agency is currently looking for a creative director to temporarily fill the role, but in the interim the design directors within the group will assume Scholey’s position.
