Earlier this month the Scottish Executive announced plans to ban smoking in all public places from 2006. While the announcement has been widely accepted by anti smoking campaigners, it has certainly been the source of much debate.

In light of the announcement The Drum decided to set a brief to some of the leading creative lights in Scotland to create a campaign based on the decision to stop smokers from enjoying their daily nictone consumption in the local pub, restaurant or shopping centre.

No doubt at least one of the eight strong advertising agencies appointed to the Scottish Executive roster will be tasked with promoting the ban at some point in forthcoming months, but here are some takes on what you could be seeing in the press in the months and years to come as we invited agencies to give us their slant on the smoking ban.
