Newly installed Daily Record editor Bruce Waddell has made two new senior editorial appointments to the paper in an attempt to address the fall in circulation figures.

Waddell, who started with the tabloid paper at the start of the week following his departure from News International to replace Peter Cox, has appointed his former number two at the Sun, Ewan Watt as night editor.

Bob Caldwell returns from the Sunday Mail to take on the position of executive editor from the start of the month. Jim Wilson, who is currently assistant news editor will replace Caldwell as deputy editor at the Sunday Mail.

It is also believed that up to 15 reporters are to be offered voluntary redundancy in cost cutting measures by owner Trinity Mirror.
