A new mobile-games publishing house has been launched by a team of four high-profile veterans of the wireless and games industries.

RocketDog has been formed by Kevin Bradshaw, founder of Digital Bridges and Machines That Go Ping; Jim Woods, the former development director of DMA Design – creator of Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings; Julian Jones, founder of TX1, the first dedicated mobile games TV channel, and Zing, a mobile games consultancy; and Paul Comben, the former licensing manager for Digital Bridges, where he worked with brands and licences including FIFA Football, Scooby-Doo and Tiger Woods.

Titles will be published under the RocketDog brand and distributed across a global network.

“For mobile gaming to reach its full potential, there is going to have to be a much greater focus on quality of content,” said Kevin Bradshaw, the CEO and co-founder of Rocket Dog.

“At the moment, many of the major channels are providing huge numbers of very average or low-quality games and the consumer has no way to find out what the game is like before they choose to buy it. It's commercial suicide. One bad experience and a player is much less likely to come back for more. RocketDog aims to change that, with a commitment to publishing only the very best games and establishing a reputation for quality and fun, which in the long term will make it a benchmark for mobile gamers worldwide.”

RocketDog is in the process of identifying and creating a new generation of intellectual property and games to be published in the coming months. The company has already signed distribution agreements for a number of territories as well as several key development studios.
