A controversial sex festival, called Festival Erotique, which is taking place in Scotland later this month, is being promoted by new media agency Revolver.

The consultancy has created the entire marketing strategy, including an ad campaign and website, www.festivalerotique.co.uk, for the event, which takes place over three days in Edinburgh at the end of August.

The festival, which will see a range of erotic exhibitions, films and stars flocking to the city’s Corn Exchange, has been courting controversy in recent weeks as outraged members of the Edinburgh community have spoken out against its presence in the capital. Such controversy has guaranteed a wealth of press coverage in the national media.

Allen Bell, MD at Revolver, said: “I think all the controversy will have been weighed up by the organisers long before we got there. Even the negative press in these circumstances has a positive PR element because it puts it out there for people to be able to make up their own minds. At the end of the day, nobody’s forcing people to go to the festival.”
