Advertising agencies are currently tendering for the Strathclyde Passenger Transport ad account for 2003.

SPT has confirmed it is in the middle of a European tendering process, which will close within the next fortnight. Up to eight agencies will then be shortlisted to pitch in October and November for the account, which will kick off in January 2003.

The announcement comes less than two months after SPT appointed New Zealand-based design agency TimeZoneOne to handle advertising and branding for the second half of this year. SPT had previously dealt with Yellow M, the agency that went into receivership in June.

The account was then put through a four-way pitch until TimeZoneOne was appointed in July.

Murray MacDonald, chief public relations and marketing officer at Strathclyde Passenger Transport, said: “We have opened the tendering process for next year’s account and there has been a lot of interest from agencies. The closing date for tendering is within the next couple of weeks, after which we’ll whittle the list down to five or eight agencies. We’ll see pitches around October and November time.”
