Clan FM is to be relaunched under its parent company UKRD’s Star brand by October.

The move comes after UKRD stations WFM, Cat FM and The Falcon relaunched under the Star brand in March. UKRD now has seven Star stations across the UK and it is believed that bosses at Clan FM hope that adopting a more neutral identity will make Clan a more attractive proposition to national advertisers.

MD John Collins declined to comment on the plan, which will need the permission of the Radio Authority if it is to go ahead.

Clan FM has also recently held a sales drive which has seen more than £200,000 worth of advertising booked for the coming year after more than 500 companies, including Tunnocks, Reg Vardy and S&UN, attended a number of presentations given recently by Clan FM staff at the Strathclyde Hilton.
