MediaCom has been appointed to handle the media planning and buying for Dumfries and Galloway Tourist Board, sparking some speculation that the main VisitScotland media account could be set to move from Feather Brooksbank.

The move also comes as rumours circulate that the VisitScotland creative account, held by 1576, could be set to review as early as August.

The media account, worth in excess of £500,000, was previously handled by VisitScotland’s incumbent agency, Feathers.

Commenting on the win, Euan Jarvie, MD of MediaCom, said: “We are delighted to be working with Dumfries and Galloway Tourist Board, particularly in light of the challenges they face following the events of last year. This appointment demonstrates the depth of expertise and thinking that we have in this area. Clients are starting to recognise that MediaCom has the ability to deliver solutions to them in areas where traditional media companies just don’t go.”

Vicki Miller, head of marketing at the Tourist Board, added: “I was impressed by MediaCom’s unique approach to campaign planning, monitoring and evaluation and believe they will add real value to our own internal planning.”
