Job Title: UK Senior Brand Manager, Gorilla Glue Company
Reports To: Associate Director of Marketing
The Senior Brand Manager is responsible for developing & delivering overall brand strategies for the UK market. They oversee the UK brand plan development and delivery of plans including brand strategies, media and innovation. They are responsible for leading a brand team to deliver high quality work. This role includes all aspects of running the daily business as well as the upstream innovation portfolio for the UK.
Leadership: Can rally organisation behind a vision for the brand. Can connect the brand’s vision with its action plans to bring the vision to life. Can break down barriers to bringing the plans to life with excellence.
Collaborates: Can collaborate across levels and departments to bring vision to life.
Marketing Mastery: Vast experience developing brand marketing plans (media plans, non-media support, like social, PR, digital content). Can manage large and complex budgets associated with expansive media plans.
Innovation: Can connect brand strategies to innovation plans, including partnering with R&D on innovation master-planning.
Grows Capability: Can develop marketing mastery in the brand teams – a track record of coaching and training individuals into strong brand marketers.
Strategic: Can distill brand priorities into simple frameworks that drive behaviour for a broad set of brand stakeholders including Marketing, Sales, and R&D.
Analytical/Integrates Knowledge: Can connect data points from diverse sets of information to form a clear story that drives actionable insights to move the brands forward.
Uses Judgement: Can use data but also can leverage judgement and intuition based on experience to make timely and informed decisions.
Lead & align the brand strategy for UK
Own day-to-day delivery of the UK brand plans
Lead brand planning & delivery for the UK
Set brand goals by pillar
Coach brand team through building block development
Deliver annual sales forecast by pillar
Oversee brand pillar health – build retail & brand strategies to optimize pillar performance
Manage budget planning - accountable for delivering UK plans within budget
Lead joint business planning with sales to deliver distribution gains and optimize brand executions
Lead & deliver 3 year innovation masterplan:
Develop masterplan recommendations for management alignment including rationale, definition & quantification
Lead new category & stretch NPD projects for brand team through US R&D team
Accountable for determining commercial right to play through collaboration with regulatory & legal
Deliver NPD masterplan through team including project baseplans, financials, claims & forecasts
Manage changing information on projects, determining brand position & path, elevating as needed
Oversee marketing & media plan strategy development and execution
Define media strategies for UK market
Plan & manage spend of multi-million pound media budget
Ensure continued optimization of spend to deliver reach & effectiveness of media
Leverage brand team to deliver on media plans
Lead a brand team
Foster an energized, agile team of 3 (brand manager, assistant brand manager, marketing coordinator)
Create a brand team that other teams & cross-functionals want to work with
Motivate, coach & develop each team member to perform at next level
Engage, influence and lead cross-functional partners to enable efficient delivery of the business plans
Identify key stakeholders and build trusting relationships with internal teams and external media & design agencies
Spearhead UK sales & marketing connections driving joint business planning across key accounts
Develop open communication between departments to deliver on the business & brand plans
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent: Business, Marketing preferred
Relevant marketing experience, in FMCG or consumer goods
Experience on NPD, media, brand management, joint business planning for FMCG company
Demonstrated career growth & development within an organization
7+ years of experience preferred
Leadership skills – specific strength in framing strategic plans, executing them and delivering results
Experience managing media across multiple platforms – proven ability to build & execute strategic media plans
Demonstrated team building & coaching skills – proven ability to develop and motivate individuals to operate at their highest level
Strong analytical skills & demonstrated ability to use data to identify insights & inform decisions.
Retail experience within DIY, high street or supermarket channels.
Strong collaborator across multiple functions and levels of the organization - including sales & operations
Ability to be agile – managing multiple projects that very in nature from strategic through execution
Results-oriented approach with a willingness to bust through barriers and dive in at the detail level as needed
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong presentation & storytelling skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Travel Required: 10-15%
