We are looking for a highly creative individual with extensive experience of writing for websites, social media and online marketing campaigns to join us as a Digital Content Producer and play a key role in the production of high quality online advice content.
Shelter Scotland helps over half a million people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.
Part of our Communications and Policy function, the Marketing Communications team plays its part by protecting the Shelter Scotland brand, monitoring audience perception and delivering external communications across all channels. They also work with Fundraising colleagues to localise appeals, promote our local services, support our campaigning and carry out other marketing related projects. Right now, we need someone like you to help us continually improve our interactive content and create a better experience for our users.
About the role
Your focus will be on creating high-quality content across our digital properties to ensure our users have a greater understanding of what it’s like to be homeless or in bad housing in Scotland today. Specifically, the role has two main strands. Firstly, you’ll participate in the production cycle of published online advice content by working with the Marketing Communications and Advice teams to produce or direct high quality, user-centred content. Secondly, you’ll help create and curate content for Shelter Scotland’s website, social sites, emails and banner ads that’s high quality, relevant and user-centred, with a consistent tone throughout. And, all the while, you’ll be working in a role with lots of scope, with people that will give you the time and environment to produce your best work.
It goes without saying you have a passion for all things digital and are willing to keep yourself up-to-date with what makes a piece of content great. You also have extensive experience of writing for online, an excellent all-round understanding of websites and usability issues and a flair for researching, analysing and conveying complex information to a variety of audiences. In-depth knowledge of SEO techniques to secure high rankings in natural search is important too, with an understanding of how we can use Outreach and Influencers to increase our reach and a willingness to help the team to plan a strategy around this a real bonus. And, because the role is part time, you’ll need to be disciplined about how you choose to spend your time and confident delegating tasks to other team members where necessary.
