Purina created a community, Find Your Old Friend, to help individuals find their horses from the past. So far, the initiative has celebrated over 50 reunions between people and their beloved horse.

Think about that dog or cat you love. It’s no different with horses. But, unlike dogs and cats, horses often move on to other homes. With no way to reconnect they lose touch forever.

Richard and Dusty hadn’t seen each other in 15 years. To celebrate their reunion, Purina released their story yesterday on The National Day of the Horse.

As more members join the Find Your Old Friend group (4,800+ and counting), we continue to hear powerful stories of horses lost and found.

To launch the initiative in May, The Martin Agency created a film, April & Dixie, that told the story of a girl and a horse born within days of each other, growing into best friends and eventually separating. It reminded people that an equine friend from their past may be out there still and people in our group are willing to help find them.
