LGBTQ+ advocacy organization and bow-tie line Tie The Knot, founded by Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, has partnered with The Martin Agency to create and launch the 'Give A Shit For Good' campaign. The campaign seeks to raise funds for the ACLU LGBT Project utilizing the Pile of Poo emoji on Facebook Messenger.

Participants can search for 'Give A Shit for Good' on Facebook messenger or visit GiveAShitForGood.org to find the Messenger Bot who will walk users through the donation process. Each Pile of Poo emoji sent equals $1.

The 'Give A Shit' campaign was created in response to President Trump and his administration’s prolonged attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. In April, Trump implemented his ban on transgender Americans serving in the military – a harmful policy that targets thousands of service members. President Trump’s proposed 2020 budget cuts disproportionately affect the LGBTQ+ community who rely on federal housing and SNAP benefits at twice the rate of cisgender people. And last year, the US Department of Education announced that it would not act to protect students blocked from using bathrooms matching their gender identity.

“The LGBTQ+ community is constantly under attack by this administration,” said Ferguson. “Each of us has a responsibility to advocate for our fellow Americans. I hope this light-hearted campaign allows you to do just that with the potential to make a big impact. It’s time we give a shit.”

Ferguson voices the campaign’s mascot, 'Spokespoo,' in a punchy animated launch video released today. Actor, activist, and Tie The Knot bow tie guest designer, George Takei, makes a cameo voice appearance in the video as well.
