May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Ad Council’s Seize the Awkward movement has partnered with two of the biggest breakout music stars this year, Billie Eilish and Ava Max, to get real about mental health.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens and young adults in the US, according to several organizations, including the National Institute of Mental Health – that’s why JED Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention have joined forces on Seize the Awkward, an Ad Council campaign that aims to empower young people to reach out to a friend who might be struggling with their mental health and start a conversation.

In two individual videos, both Eilish and Max open up about their personal connections to mental health. They tell intimate stories about conversations they’ve had with their friends on the topic and also what has helped them cope with their own mental health.
