T-Mobile: Opening Day
- Location:
A new T-Mobile spot is running during the MLB Opening Day Mariners v Red Sox game at T-Mobile Park on ESPN. T-Mobile is launching this spot to celebrate MLB Opening Day and the official opening of T-Mobile Park. This spot is the latest in a series of high-performing creative spots from T-Mobile and builds on the ‘T-Mobile Has You Covered’ campaign that launched back in September 2018 and introduced a new tone and approach for the brand.
T-Mobile partnered with Hollywood producer, Andrew Panay, writer Brian Klugman, and the creative team at Panay Films, to create and develop this spot as well as the broader campaign, which has included spots, such as ‘T-Ball’ and ‘Super Dad,’ among others that aired in 2018.
The spot starts by showing the grass at the stadium being watered, the dugout being swept and cleaned, with the voice over, “As opening day at T-Mobile Park drew near, there were countless calls making sure everything was ready for baseball.” From there, each meticulous preparation and detail is presented - an endless email chain about food and condiments, a trucker in Washington using his GPS to make sure the new sign would get to the stadium on time. High in the booth, announcers stream highlights, and hours before the first pitch, the head grounds keeper sends seventeen texts to double check that the newly sodded field is perfect.
