Many Americans are unaware that the Apollo 11 astronauts spent weeks at Nasa HQ following the trip (in quarantine), where they enjoyed hearty meals consisting of a variety of Stouffer’s entrées, sides and desserts. “Everyone who has been to the moon is eating Stouffer’s” became the brand’s tagline in 1969, as astronauts enjoyed options like boneless short ribs, spice cakes and escalloped chicken and noodles.

In celebration of the anniversary, Stouffer’s is giving fans across the country the chance to “eat like an Apollo 11 astronaut”.

Chef Robert Fedorko, director of culinary innovation, Nestlé USA, is recreating three of its recipes featured on the post-lunar menu.

Printed recipes will be available to download across Stouffer’s online channels starting in July.

Consumers can also purchase recipes that have stood the test of time – like escalloped chicken and noodles and lasagna with meat sauce – in addition to dozens of flavorful new offerings.
