‘Nothing Beats a Londoner? Sailing is having none of it’. So says the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) in one of the more bizarre creative responses to Nike’s lauded celebration of the capital’s sporting culture, which parodies the W+K original with sailors, windsurfers and canal boat drivers.

The ad opens with dinghy sailor and London-based DJ Asher Robinson, who says: “So you do your sport in London? That’s light work. I do my sport on the ocean.”

In the style of the Nike film, a variety of other sea-farers and mariners go on to one-up each other with regards to the difficulty of their sailing style. Contributions come from Olympic British sailing team member Sam Whaley and three-time Paralympian Hannah Stodel.

The film also features a clip from a team currently competing in the Clipper Round the World Race in the South China seas.

Created in-house, RYA hopes the distinctly middle-class parody will demonstrate both the toughness and fun of sailing.
