Crunchyroll is a Warner Media (Time Warner) niche streaming service focused on anime. The company is premiering a documentary series for and about anime fans called Fan Chronicles. It's a marketing effort that rides the line between branded and original content.

Fan Chronicles shines a light on Crunchyroll's fans through stories of how anime has empowered them and helped shape their personal journey. The casting for Fan Chronicles was all done directly from the Crunchyroll community, with hundreds of submissions coming in through the site and social media.

In each 10-minute documentary episode, viewers follow the story of an anime fan for whom anime has served as an inspiration – from a young woman in Cape Cod coping with a rare disease to a music producer in Atlanta finding an audience through anime-inspired tracks to a photographer California finding a message of female empowerment through the art form.
