Phantom have proposed an alarming redesign of the UK's flood warning symbol to raise concern and public awareness about the risks of climate change in the UK.

The new warning symbol proposal reimagines the official flood symbol (a generic house in rising water) with some of the UK’s most loved and iconic monuments submerged in water: including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Blackpool Tower, The Liver Building, Angel of the North, and the London Eye. The new designs drive home the message that climate change is much more urgent and closer to home than we think.

The campaign urges people to share the new graphic online with the image meta tags “flood warning sign UK” in order to take over Google Images and introduce the graphic when people search for the official flood warning symbol online.

The agency also took the warning signs to the streets with bold, iconic placards at the Global Climate Strike.

Phantom created the redesign, ran a guerilla campaign with the official-looking signs installed on the streets of London, created stickers to give young people at the Global Climate March, and built the campaign website floodthestreets.org to drive climate action.
