In response to President Trump’s remarks calling immigrants deported from the United States “not human” and “animals” at the White House, People For the American Way’s Latinos Vote! program released a rapid response digital ad, 'Consequences.'

The online ad, which has an English and Spanish language version, will be seen on news websites and specifically target Latino voters in states including CA, AZ, NV, TX, WI, VA, PA, GA and FL.

“Donald Trump has labeled Mexican immigrants ‘rapists,’ ‘killers’ and ‘murderers,’ he blasted Haiti, El Salvador, and all of Africa as ‘shithole’ countries, and he’s defended white supremacists. This is not just more of the hateful, bigoted rhetoric we’ve seen since he took office,” said Lizet Ocampo, PFAW’s political director. “Calling immigrants animals is a new low. Dehumanizing anyone is both immoral and dangerous. We’re challenging this hate head-on by mobilizing Latino voters to take their outrage to the polls. 2018 is shaping up to be a year of consequences for Trump’s extremism — and for Republicans who have enabled his hate. If there’s a blue wave election this year, it’s going to be led by the Latino community. We’re working to make that happen.”
