The Ad Council: LGBT Acceptance by NBCUniversal

In 30 states, it is still legal to fire, evict or deny service to LGBTQ+ people. To bring attention to this inequality, NBCUniversal (NBCU) has partnered with the Ad Council’s ‘Beyond I Do’ campaign on a video that tells a real story of this discrimination.

In the video, we hear Cori tell the story of her son Andrew was fired from his teaching job when his employer found out he was gay. She talks about how she always taught her son to be accepting of others, and to be true in everything he did. So when he was fired simply for being gay, she felt she had not prepared him for a moment like that to happen. The video ends as the two meet at a diner and hold hands, hoping for a better future.

The ‘LGBT Acceptance’ video raises awareness about this discrimination and promotes acceptance, empathy and understanding for the millions of LGBTQ+ Americans who can be kicked out of their homes, fired from their jobs or denied services just because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
