KFC: advert-body-2 by Mother London
- Location:
‘Turkey comes and goes but chicken’s here to stay’ announces KFC in its Christmas ad – a dramatic, animatronic standoff between the two kings of poultry.
Taking inspiration from Western films of yore, the campaign’s film opens on a snowy mountain plain. A chicken boldly struts through the tundra – across frozen lakes, cragged rocks and under barbed wire – until she rounds the corner to face up with her nemesis: the turkey.
The turkey ruffles its plume and stares down our hero, but it is the chicken that wins the standoff, forcing the turkey to run away. Chicken victoriously rears up flapping as the line read: ‘Turkey comes and goes but chicken’s here to stay’.
KFC hopes to capitalise on the population’s secret distaste of turkey at Christmas in supporting work on press, online and out-of-home. One of posters reads: ‘The trick to enjoying Christmas turkey? Lowering your expectations’.
