ConnectRN, an online platform dedicated to helping nurses find work, has unveiled ‘Nurses Weak Gifts’ – a vow to exchange weak gifts with proper presents.
Nurses play a huge role in healthcare systems, but often they feel underappreciated and overworked. As Nurses Appreciation Week kicks off this Friday, many workers are shaming the frankly embarrassing gifts they have received from employers as ‘thanks’ for their service – a lollipop ‘for days that suck’ or pet rocks with the words ‘you rock’ on them.
The campaign, made in partnership with Mischief @ No Fixed Address, comes as a One Poll survey from ConnectRN found that 63% of nurses in America say the typical ways in which employers show their appreciation feel patronizing. Through a series of videos, ConnectRN is encouraging nurses to share a photo of their most ridiculous gifts on social media and tag ConnectRN. If they’re among the first 1,200 to submit, they’ll receive a gift box of scented candles, chocolates, tea and mugs from the online platform.
