To drive the public towards the Stand Up virtual bystander intervention training programme, L’Oréal Paris has devised Stand Up Against Street Harassment campaign, which will run across Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

The international programme was first launched in 2020, initially in eight countries following a global 15,000-participant survey on sexual harassment in public spaces conducted in partnership with Ipsos, researchers at Cornell University and L’Oréal Paris. The report found 80% of women in the UK had reported experiencing harassment in public spaces, while 42% of respondents had witnessed at least one incident of sexual harassment.

These results confirmed L’Oréal Paris’ determination to stand up for the self-worth of all women, which led L’Oréal Paris and NGO Hollaback! to develop their bystander training programme, Stand Up Against Street Harassment - an educational tool that gives practical tips on how to spot and address street harassment. Since launching, there are now over 10,000 people that have completed it in the UK and Ireland.
