Created by Goodby Silverstein & Partners, the 60-second TV commercial, 'Rendezvous,' harks back to classic John Hughes movies and features the challenges of a wannabe Romeo sneaking into the bedroom window of his Juliet. In fact, it was shot at Ferris Bueller’s house. But in a modern twist, our young teen is defeated by a vigilant father and his Xfinity xFi app that’s notified him when a new device has joined.

Todd Arata, senior vice-president of brand marketing at Xfinity said: “Whether you’re a parent or a teenager, this timeless story is one we can all relate to. And with the xFi app we’ve made it even easier for you to control your home WiFi so surprises like our Romeo here are a thing of the past.”

So a word of warning to future suitors - maybe leave your mobile phone in the car next time.
