In partnership with production company Prettybird and nonprofit UltraViolet, GS&P has launched a campaign called 'Unacceptable Acceptance Letters' that aims to raise awareness of campus rape during April's Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In a series of videos, young men and women are filmed while opening their college acceptance letters, a moment that is supposed to be celebratory for most students. Yet each video takes a dark turn once the students begin to read their acceptance letters aloud to family and friends, since the colleges bluntly describe in the letters how each particular student will become a victim of sexual assault once they get to campus. For example, one video featuring a young woman named Ms. Karthers features her as she reads a letter from a college that states, "We are delighted that you have chosen us, but we won't choose to protect you from your rapist this coming fall. We will only suspend him for a single day, then you're on your own." According to GS&P, the goal of the campaign is to "raise awareness of this issue and inspire students, parents and the public to demand their colleges and universities act to protect their students." Print ads are running in the Harvard Crimson and USA Today. The campaign is housed at dontacceptrape.com and supporters are encouraged to use the hashtag #DontAcceptRape.
