Sonos is passionate about sound, as it has shown in its ads featuring the Nasdaq Bell Remaster and Sonos Yule Log. That sound obsession is on full display in an ad leading up to the Super Bowl. It highlights one of the many unsung heroes with the same obsession: the parabolic mic operators who put their bodies on the line week after week to bring the immersive sounds of the game to fans everywhere.

'Mike ‘The Mic’ Milligan,' a comedy collaboration with Mark and Jay Duplass' creative shop, DBP Donut, follows Mike (played by Linas Phillips), a parabolic mic operator who is striving to be the very best in his game. The mockumentary short follows Mike at home and on the field as he literally goes over and above in the quest for the perfect football audio.

The diminutive Milligan is accidentally hit by football players, is tripped up by the tire exercise, falls uphill and generally gets beat up on the job as he records the “10 million” football sounds. His passion for the game and getting the right sounds even takes him into the locker room, the ice bath and the lockers, too.
