Tesco has added to its roster of cult figures as it continues celebrating 100 years in business with second wave of price cuts.

The supermarket rolled out its 'Prices That Will Take You Back' campaign back in January, that celebrated cultural moments from across the decades.

Seeking to evoke nostalgia, the campaign made a number of iconic references, including a 70's 'roller girl,' 90's legend World from Gladiators and bulbous Mr Blobby.

The campaign saw the retailer rollback on prices of products in a bid to compete with discount rivals like Lidl and Aldi. The approach appeared to work with 147,000 tins of beans snapped up in one hour.

Riding on the success of the price-focused campaign, Tesco has announced a second wave of price cuts including reduced prices on British brands Nestle, McCain and Richmond Sausages, through to Tesco's own brand meat, fruit and vegetables.

Marking 40 years since his original television debut, the metamorphic clay figure Morph and his sidekick Chas appear in the campaign, alongside 90's fitness guru Mr Motivator and a jumpsuit-clad Anneka Rice.

The latest film continues a number of themes from the launch ad, including the funky backdrop of Earth, Wind and Fire's September, and the 70's roller girl.
