Ahead of the Ryder Cup golf tournament in Paris on September 25-30, Workday, an enterprise cloud applications company for finance and human resources, is bringing one of the world’s top golfers on as a caddie of sorts.

Phil Mickelson is serving as a ‘business caddie in a global campaign titled, ‘A Partner Like No Other’ for the company. A 60-second spot, created by 215 McCann, draws a parallel between one of the most well-known partnerships in sports – a golfer and his/her caddie – and Workday, by metaphorically portraying the company as a trusted partner for organizations of all sizes and across all industries.

True to form for a company that lists “fun” as one of its core values, the Workday spot takes a humorous approach to convey its relentless focus on providing customers with the insights and guidance they need to help drive their business forward. The spot portrays Workday golf ambassador, Phil Mickelson, as the ‘business caddie’ for a top executive, played by actor Andy Buckley (The Office). Mickelson walks behind Buckley, clad in a Workday caddie vest, advising the executive and staff on crucial staffing decisions, makes production and financial recommendations, and helps increase the office’s overall efficiency, as well as coffee additive recommendations, office ping-pong strategies and haircut analysis.

The campaign will run across television, OOH, digital, print, and social, and target the US market as well as in UK, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Japan.
