Thanks for your comments John. I'm not for a second suggesting that you make yourself surplus to requirements at your own agency - quite the opposite really. I think staff should be empowered to manage the things you mention themselves as and when possible, and draft you in when they come across an opportunity that can make a step change to the business. Your entire focus should also be on identifying those opportunities. Of course, you could always offer to make your entire team a cup of coffee if you really feel at a loose end!
