Brand banter on Twitter: Too much social media, not enough marketing?

We are moving into the humanisation of brands and business and until marketers "get it" their clients will slowly be left behind.

How do you think the Agency Vaynermedia went from 20 staff to 300 (without outward investment) in 18 months. Their argument to clients is make it human... guess what, it drives sales.

Cringe or not, if it wakes up a potential customer (who just happens to be very well networked) then the tactic is worth pursuing.

Hi Liz, As you say communication is key in situations like this - I've been watching the story with interest - I'm just a little surprised not to find a Youtube clip of a joint Tesco boss and a Silvercrest representative doing their best to explain their processes - I suspect that moment has passed and they will do their best to field reactions as they come in and potentially dry up. That is until Channel 4 or Panorama produce an exposé...

What's with the shopping lobsters? If it were Glasgow would they have been smoking Salmon? This ad leaves me a bit cold - would have liked a punchier more obvious start. Brilliantly executed and like the audio.
