Incessant millennial mantra ‘Netflix and Chill’ has been immortalised as a dedicated room on Airbnb.

The site is no stranger to, well, strange rooms with it earlier this week banning an igloo erected after Storm Jonas because it did not "meet occupancy standards".

Now, in New York’s West Village, fans of seamless media consumption paired with romantic entanglement can rent the rooms for $400 (£288) a night to live out the ultimate Netflix and Chill fantasy.

Digital creative and internet artist, Tom Galle is the man behind the concept, with the help of Alyssa Davis and Moises Sanabria of the ART404 Collective.

The Airbnb listing reads: “With this project we bring the famous ‘Netflix and Chill meme' to life and offer it as an in real life experience that people can rent for a night."

Galle told The Drum his background in advertising indirectly inspired him: "I think that some of my conceptual skills that I first learned in an advertising context, are now stretching further into the internet spheres."

On why most of the western world is now familiar with the Netflix and Chill meme, he added: "I think that the most successful memes are also very recognizable, simple moments in real life. I think this is a very funny, awkward situation that probably a lot of people recognize, and that the internet exposed and started mocking in all these hilarious ways."

He concluded that he likes to Netflix and Chill to Making a Murderer.

Book the room here, at the time of publication it's had few bookings - but that's likely about to change fast.
