Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Williams, has returned to Twitter to thank fans for their support after she was trolled off the platform.

She ditched Twitter after being sent photoshopped images of her father’s body, and urged her followers to report the trolls, whose accounts were later suspended by Twitter.

Since Williams left, Twitter made promises to change its policies, stating “We will not tolerate abuse of this nature on Twitter.”

Another move by Twitter to stop this happening again saw the platform introduce the ability to get images of a deceased family member removed from the microblogging platform, if it is requested.

Williams’ tweet linked to a Tumblr post by Harvey Fierstein: “Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.”
