England mid-fielder James Milner has vowed to unmask the anonymous author behind the ‘Boring’ parody Twitter account which is purportedly written by the player himself. The joke profile plays host to a series of increasingly dull missives which has nevertheless garnered an impressive following, nudging close to the quarter of a million mark with the real Milner himself a regular reader.

Commenting on his grey alter ego Milner said: “It’s not doing badly, whoever it is. My foundation has 15,000 for the charity. “It’s good fun. I’ve read a few of them and some of them are very funny. My mates don’t mention it, no. I’d like the James Milner Foundation to have as many followers as that.”The growing popularity of the account has prompted Milner to become an amateur detective, eyeing up everyone he comes into contact with to assess the likelihood of their involvement. “We went through this at the club, wondering who it was”, Milner remarked. “There were a few tweets about Asda, so I was asking the masseurs where they shopped. I don’t shop in Asda. I don’t think it’s at the club, no. Who knows? It’s good fun.“I’ve never got close enough to actually accuse anyone of running it. I thought I had, but I realised they didn’t have enough banter.”
