Fake ad claiming updating to iOS7 makes iPhones waterproof leads to broken devices
A fake ad claiming that upgrading to iOS7 would make the phone ‘become waterproof’ has led to those taken in destroying their phones as they looked to test the claim.The ad and the rumour, circulated through social media and suggested that “In an emergency, a smart-switch will shut off the phone’s power supply and corresponding components to prevent any damage to your iPhone’s delicate circuitry.”It is suggested that the spoof advert originated on online forum 4chan.
